A new phone should not mean lost photos
The most common way people lose photos from a vault app is changing phones. Hidlet backs up each vault to your private iCloud storage, encrypted on your iPhone before anything is uploaded. On a new phone, install Hidlet, draw your pattern, and the vault downloads and opens.
Backup is on by default and included on the free plan. You can turn it off in Settings if you would rather keep everything on one device.
What Apple and we can see
The backup lives in your own iCloud account, not on our servers. It is encrypted with a key that comes from your pattern, so Apple stores only scrambled data and we never receive it at all.

Does the backup use my iCloud storage?
Yes. Encrypted vault data counts toward your iCloud storage, roughly the same size as the original files.
Do I need Hidlet Pro to restore?
No. Backup and restore are free. Pro adds live sync between your iPhone and iPad.
